My grandma suggested goulash. Her dad, who was f'ing badass, came from Hungary, ended up an orphan... So probably lost some traditions, among plain PA dutch cooking, figured I'd give it some gusto, using what was around

Ingredients: ground beef, small onion, carrots, half green pepper - all finely chopped, 2 small spoons of jarred minced garlic, paprika, adobo, Worcestershire sauce, can of stewed tomatoes, small can of tomato sauce (supposed to be 2 but I opened tomato paste by mistake, so used that plus water) salt, pepper

Brown ground beef on medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper, drain if needed, but this was very lean.

Add onions stir, about 4-5 minutes. Add garlic, another 2-3 minutes.

Toss in carrots and green pepper, adobo and paprika as needed (Hungarians like lots of paprika), dash or two of Worcestershire sauce. Cook and stir until vegetables are soft. Add seasonings accordingly.

Add stewed tomato, small can of tomato sauce, tomato paste, water filled in paste can. Stir to a simmer. Reduce to low and cover. Sit however long

Taste and season accordingly. More paprika never hurts.

Serve over egg noodles.

Dish turned out excellent! May add potatoes, beef broth/cubes, or some herbs next time. maybe something to deglaze pan, but stewed tomatoes did a great job of that.

Looks great, but you are better off using diced beef than minced, to get that slow cooked pull apart beef goodness.

Next time try adding 1-2 tsp of caraway seeds in with garlic after you fry the onions, it will make a huge difference to bring up that authentic flavor.

(Also you are still dead to me, just in case you wondered.)

Hahaha. Didn't have em on hand. Not used in all regions it seems. Definitely gotta try diced
