Heard some WNs bake this apple pie/cake and/or black forest cherry pie for meetups. Suspect it's a standard (not sunken) apple pie with ground nuts and raisins. would love to get your input.

I looked around on the net but got no good hits. Here's one article I found and I suspect they not so subtly want to make Unca Adolf look bad but that's par for the course... Translation from the article where they interview some old maid of his. https://www.diepresse.com/1599279/hitler-liebte-suesses-stubenmaedchen-bricht-ihr-schweigen

Hitler's companion Eva Braun was in charge of the girls. She was "a real sweetheart," says the former parlor maid, "our best friend. So she had even organized seats for the girls in the "cinema hall" of the Berghof. Films by Marika Rökk were shown.

The Führer, on the other hand, was known for always receiving many guests. Hitler rarely got up before two o'clock in the afternoon. He also kept to a strict diet. He had his own cook who was responsible only for his meals. He drank lukewarm water with it. However, he is said to have often been in the kitchen at night, awaiting a "Führer cake" - according to Kalhammer, a sheet cake with nuts and raisins, on which apple wedges were meticulously lined up. "He loved sweet things," she recalls.

Here is this also:

I used to make some traditional German and Teutonic foods, and based upon personal experience plus everything I can gather about this cake, it sounds like it is just a really rad apfelkuchen with some raisins and walnuts or whatever is seasonal. I would find yourself a good starting recipe and tweak around until you get it right. Then, reflect on this newfound connection with every bite

Thank you for cleaning that up. I don't often use the "linking features", and so I sometimes screw up the proper/preferred formatting.
