Did you know Instagram's photo resolution was limited to 640p for a long time because of the iPhone's screen resolution.

Admittedly, 640p was quite a lot in 2010.

But in 2013, others (e.g. Galaxy S4) already had 1080p.

In 2015, Instagram finally upgraded to 1080p, and no more fixed 1:1 aspect ratio.

Also, the Oppp Find 7 had 1440p in late 2013.

Admittedly, I consider 720p of screen resolution acceptable.

1080p and 1440p are noticeably crisper, but I could live with 720p.
