Samsung's S4 and Note 3 meanwhile had a superior camera layout with built-in settings and more options.
Also, Samsung allowed accessing photo mode and video mode without switching modes from S4 to S9.
One advantage of the mode-switching however is that if one is in video mode, video recording could start immediately, because the camera was already on stand-by for video.
A similar effect could be achieved for Samsung phones by pausing the video recording, but that would mess up the date/time. It would no longer exactly match the actual video.
I still wonder why exactly Apple's trash layout from iOS7 has been so successful. Just like non-replaceable batteries and notches.
Please, dear manufacturers, go your own way.
Apple is the worst one to be inspired from. They push toxic and irrational design trends.
OpenCamera for the win (although the default precluded camera software is usually optimized for the specific end device).
