Western governments’, specifically western Europe, North America (U.S-Canada) and Australia/New Zealand, are intentionally trying to lower economic activity to meet the intentional drop in energy production.
This is the exact opposite of what needs to be done. We need to increase economic activity in order to raise our energy consumption, and thus boost our standard of living. The more energy we use, the better we live. Think about it and you'll see that I'm right. There is nothing immoral about using energy. Energy in various forms is all around us, and it is an endless supply. It will never be used up. The more we use, the better we live.
I think they're are trying to hit china and the "non aligned" producing countries with this, by tanking the (western) demand on purpose
Kind of like suddenly pulling the breaks on your vehicle because you know it's going to badly damage the vehicle behind. Yours will be damaged too but less critically and you know it
Maybe they want to force them into debt so they can control/racket/extort them better, and they use "us" as vehicle for that, "us" the already debt controlled countries under their direct influence
