I remember reading back in the 70's about how free copies of the official government owned newspaper "Pravda" ("Truth") would be posted on public boards in the town and village squares. The people knew it was all lies, but they read them anyway. I couldn't figure out why people would bother to read something the they already knew were lies.
Now I know better. Because if you already know that what the official story is, and that THAT is the lie, if you pay attention over a long enough period, you can begin to read between the lines, including what is NOT being spoken of, and arrive at a semblance of the truth.
I have had to learn to do the hard way, with American media, what Russian children learn at their father's knee.
