Fixing it is easy. A mig welder with brass wire or an Oxy/acet torch with a small piece of brass and then file it smooth. But, i played for 40 years and i still have no idea how to remove it or replace it to the wood.

From what my guitar buddies have said it should be pretty easy to pry out and then get back into place. Some frets just have cleats and some are just held in with a low grade glue.
