I bought a mid 2000s Toyota pickup for $8000 cash at a dealership this summer. I put a couple grand into her to tweak a few things and she runs great. Not winning a beauty pageant, but gets the job done.

You got a relatively good deal sounds like. I did a quick search and around me and early 2000s Tacomas with 200k miles or more are selling for at least 10k.
