Objectively everything long term is pointless from a D perspective, they're in maximum damage control mode, everything to keep the charade going until the elections, all they can hope for is quick fixes that will last long enough until then, that's all. Then if it collapses under trump it's going to be trump's fault and if it collapses under them at least they'll be in power lol, they just don't want it to collapse now evidently
