LOL - I popped over there this morning and saw all the bickering. I always hate those migration things. Nothing but drama, drama, drama.
It just floors me the shit those idiots bicker about. They bark all day about muh free speech yet downvote everyone who isn't extreme right. They talk about no censorship yet suck Justin's dick when he gives sub creators the ability to block people in subs for abusing the rules.
The whole thing has become a kindergarten slap fight, and I've been out of school for too fucking long to care about this drama.
"Can you believe these new assholes? They've put up CCP requirements!!!!
literally using a Voat feature is anti-Voat
I saw you spar with SRS goons, it's like they can't get it through their heads that using moderation tools that Putt coded and provided is totally acceptable... They want to be private and have CCP requirements to DV? They don't appear on front page!
Know what is on the front page? Butthurt """goats""" crying their feefees out, for miles
I had the same damned conversation - dozens (literally) of times, just about the v/TruthHurts sub.
I know this is difficult for them to grasp, but curating a sub (and that includes deciding what commentary and submissions are allowed) is a form of expression - which is speech.
What Voat does allow is someone the chance to create a competing sub with their own rules. This ensures that you have your liberties while not trampling on their liberties to curate the sub as they wish, or to speak freely.
For the sake of discussion, I'll define a few words in a pretty easy way. (I've been using this for years, feel free to tear it apart.)
You're free to kill me. You can come to my house, right this minute, and kill me. You are not at liberty to kill me. If I try to harm you, you have the right to kill me and the justification is self-defence.
There's not really much of anything preventing you from coming to my house and trying to kill me, right this very minute. You're free to do that. Freedom is only taken by force. Y'all sure as shit don't have the liberty to kill me, unless I try to harm you first.
That's why it's "justifiable homicide" and that's known as an "affirmative defence."
It's also why the quote is, "Give me liberty, or give me death."
Mostly, I'm just making conversation at this point - but people sometimes notice and get confused by my use of the word liberty, as opposed to freedom. "Free speech" is a misnomer. What it really is, is a liberty to speak freely.
Those aren't insignificant differences.
