i think voat is more of a case study in feature creep. day to day requirements do not leave much time for changing the platform, on top of having a day job, so planned features make little to no progress. Has anything ever come from that idea to add voting within subs?

You wait, I've got a job and I'll show you new features! Just you wait, I'll get some awesome new features! Someday... at some point... I'll get to it eventually.... at least if the site goes down I'm on top of it.

In all seriousness we do have a couple things in the works, new features will come slowly but they will come.

true, but this site has a light load compared to voat, so less time on daily hot-wires to keep everything active, and more time to design and tinker.

They had plenty of time when it was a HS project (Whoaverse).

I kinda gave up on Voat after Putt let it go down for few days and never noticed. Atko had to swoop in and save the site. That was the deal breaker for me, though I was once a regular fairly well known user there for a long time. It's actually Putt's inattention to day to day functions that has killed it. He'd been 'supposedly' off working new code upgrades for what seemed an eternity, and ignored everything else. Besides that, wave after wave of Reddit bans changed the dynamic greatly. It got to the point, at least for me, that there was far more garbage I had to ignore than there was stuff I wanted to see. So I fled to Phuks and Poal, where both are slower, of course, but have active owners and admins, and far less of the BS to wade through.

it has basically become 4chan with reputations, where the most vile things get voted to the top. I made an account on here just incase voat went down and never came back up, and saved archives of my own subs incase i ever wanted to recreate them over here.

I agree with your assesment, with the influx of users at voat, the level of shit has risen to where i can't find interesting stuff without sifting through crap i have no interest in. Its nearly as bad as browsing through 4chan or infinity chan. Atleast funny junk has decent sorting tools to help sift through the shit. But on poal, the volume of stuff is low enough its easy to glance over a single page of /new and keep up with most things posted. Reddit/voat, no point, its gone in seconds/minutes respectivly.

Its that small site feel that i like about this site.

Good assessment and I agree. You should recreate your subs ... we can always use new stuff to ponder.
