Sounds like a great way to give power to the brigadiers and circle jerk's.
This is great. This will work out for sure. No way it could be abuses
Subverse Types The Vote feature also introduces a new classification for subverses. This classification system, or subverse type, will affect what Votes can be called in a particular subverse. Voat has defined the following subverse types:
- Default: Uncategorized Subverse (Legacy - all existing subverses are categorized as Default.)
SystemMonarchy: System Subverse (Entity. Voat controlled.)PublicDemocracy: Community Subverse (Publicly controlled via Votes. Moderator subverse permissions limited.)PrivateDictatorship: Private Subverse (Moderator controlled. Identical to Default as of this draft.),CommunityRepublic: Community Subverse (Republic structure. Rules and Moderators can only be changed via Votes)
We currently have a similar classification system. However we do not have the republic setup, I'm not sure if its something we would be interested in doing but and I will for sure discuss it.
It looks to me to be a whole lotta coding for minimal gain. I think simplicity, as we currently have on Poal beats all this psychobabble by a mile. I also think that since Voat now has an angel, Putt has far too much time on his hands to implement something completely unnecessary.
Part of me thinks and I hate to use this term, but sometimes leadership is needed to make choices when their are groups that want to control the narrative and can vote essentially infinite times. I just don't see a way to let the community do it completely on their own when a small minority can outvote the majority.
Yeah, it stood out (credit where credit is due) as a good way to overcome the "free speech about everything everywhere, even SBBH gore in TradWives, no moderators ever at all" vs. "specialty subs can take action to emphasize the content they want to see" debate
I mean thats always been the policy here, I'll give them credit its not a bad idea, but being able to vote out moderators seems like it could be abused.
Isn't this something they were talking about for a long time? I recall way back when I was inquiring about subverse requests not being processed, part of the answer was a new system that would allow users decide.
