Every time I engage with a flat earther eventually they try to say some variation of that, "lol, I troll u." I might understand ironic flat earth posting for one or two posts maybe even a whole thread if it were any other troll but I have seen these guys post histories where they spam flat earth videos and engage with other users for days and weeks without ever cashing in on the "lol, troll u" Trolls want to rustle jimmies but they also want the satisfaction of that gotcha moment. Flat earth people claiming to be trolls are probably paid shills who have been given a playbook to avoid discovery of the operation. I've done some trolling in my time and I seriously can't imagine ironically commiting hundreds of hours of my own time to reinforce lies and gas light my own fellows/peers under the pretense of trolling, especially when I would go unrecognized for my efforts by design, one guy acting that way is an anomaly 2 is suspicious, 3 people screams conspiracy to me. There's a difference between trolling and the weaponization of gaslighting and demoralization. But then when you look a bit harder you see a few of the flat earth trolls have subs they ban detractors from, subs that have nothing to do with flat earth but would sure help them keep narrative control if the subs were more active, or they have new accounts, and between these two types of accounts they are most responsible for blatant calls to violence or sad-posting. I've looked at posting hours and most of these guys seem to be coming out of somewhere on the west coast which makes it a bit more suspicious by "virtue" of regional politics. I think its some kind of government agency or contractors to an agency but there is the chance its an organized off site troll campaign akin to the Discord trannies that target 4chan. Trannies with more time than sense and an agenda shitting up nsfw boards like /b/ and /gif/ makes sense, flat earth trolls just coordinating with similar tactics for quiet jollies? I fucking doubt it. I've seen this phenomena over years, one guy on old voat pretended to be a massive flat earther and would quote scriptures that atheists like to shove in people's faces; I goaded the fucker for about 3 days in comments, he got bored after the thread we were commenting on had gone cold and admitted he was a christ hating atheist spreading disinformation out of spite after I called him a kike he never responded again, he too went to the default, "lol, I troll u" after I pointed out that other than rote denial of round earth he didn't actually know any supporting arguments for flat earth beyond posting some canned verses that sound vaguely supportive("corners of the earth" stuff) and linking a video; he started breaking the act. He was a part of a group of fake jesus freaks that mostly trolled comments in Q subs trying to get friendly with boomers so they could gaslight them. A coordinated psy-op under the pretense of trolling to get away with maliciously predating on the userbase, creating flat earth tards, sowing division and demoralizing the broader movement. I'm liking contractors; feds, glowies, or NSA probably wouldn't ever break character and regular trolls probably wouldn't coordinate tactics and targets off site. There is a third option but it's sadder than discord trannies and their axe wounds; organic leftist trolls, a remnant of voat's mass appeal after the big reddit exodus in like 2014-2015 that have autistically thrown time at pretending to be flat earth retards only to find out their only convert is the resident site retard.
