Apologies! I made a mistake in this video. Watching Perifractic's pitch, I mistakenly thought he was proposing to crowdfund the purchase. In the video he does mention exploring that possibility, and there's a big slide and discussion dedicated to it, but on rewatch, he appears to discount it due to the legal issues involved with shares. At least for now. I've edited the video to remove mentions of that. Honest mistake! Thanks to the commenter who clarified that. The rest of my critique stands though.
This was posted before the part 2 (this post) where he confirmed buying it (angel investors made a deposit), but the final payment is in the work (they are looking for legal ways for people to chip in)
Here's a reaction video of the announcement.
TTT goes into some of my concerns and a lot more of his. I am not trying to poo-poo on the idea. The people who have Commodore now aren't doing dick with it. The people who are proposing to buy and use it are people that have some questionable backgrounds. More than likely this is on the up and up and Retro Recipes has a pretty squeaky clean image. Not really much on him. He might be the front man.
Check out the link. RetroCombs is explaining in detail who is who, and what they have done or been doing since.
They will reveal their plan and a new computer in 11 days.
Ok. I will.
