Taking a "rest day" for the hardworking White man was to maintain your tools. It was your half-day of normal work so you could leave early to do other things. Wiping off grime, sharpening, special oiling. It was a sense of satisfaction of giving some love back to the tools you would work with all year.

2 years ago bought a new trailer home to use as camp site on some property since taxes on them actually depreciate every year. I understand the appliances inside were not of highest quality, but within 2 years, have had to replace fridge, hot water heater, washer, dishwasher and last week the AC went out. FML. Would have been better to build the cabin and stock with top of the line appliances but of course I thought I could save some money
