I would do BSD in a second if I didn't do servers. There aren't enough BSD vps providers to make it dirt cheap like with linux where you have tens of thousands of providers and can find someone among them whose priced really low. And I like running the same software on my personal computer as my servers because I can play around and run the same code elsewhere. But yeah, except for that narrow issue I would be on BSD in a heart beat. It's fast too. And having a full feature desktop environment is as easy as it is with linux. The compilation of code is what's shocking fast. Compiling and running Gnome Cinnamon took about as long as it takes to install all the dependencies from a repo if you were installing it on Ubuntu. (Yes I used to use gnome cinnamon, I have better taste now).
