I have started working on that article since May 1st, 2020. The article is 35 thousand characters long by now. The original purpose of that article was for me and anyone who knows of the article to be able to share it in online debates regarding this and similar topics (e.g. planned obsolescence) to avoid having to explain it over and over again. The view counter indicates 10316 at the moment.

Another article with a considerable amount of views is “”, which has exactly 1999 views as of typing this. So the first one of you who opens it will be the 2000th viewer! I have also worked on “” and “”

If any of you has suggestions for improving these articles, please comment your suggestions. You are also able to create an account there and contribute.

I have chosen EverybodyWiki for my articles because it currently appears to be operated by sane anti-deletionists (they rescue deletion-endangered content from Wikipedia including orphaned draft articles that Wikipedia . Idiotic rule, I know.) and because of that view counter (because I wish to know how many people actually read my work there).

The view count can be seen at the bottom of the page.

Thanks alot for your feedback!

Yes, sadly the storage of optical media is rather limited for today's dimensions (although 4.7 GB was astronomical in 1996. Many computers had smaller internal hard drives! But I was not even alive back then.)

There were projects such as Hyper CD-ROM and Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD) that sadly never saw the light of day.

Isn't that amazing? And dual-layer DVDs...8GB...holy mother of god that was huge.

Even the 50GB of blu-ray recordables isn't very big anymore. Speaking of that, have you used those? I have a bunch of DVD-R that are 15 years old and still readable save one dual-layer disc. I need some sort of medium-term storage that isn't hard drives.

edit: eh, they never did get cheap enough to be useful. Never mind...

Yes.

Are they reliable at all, or are they crap?

That is true, it does seem to be stagnating a bit. And yeah -- even more so, 700MB (or did it start at 650MB?) was even more impressive for 198...5?
