I recently came to the conclusion that "most powerful laptops" is bordering on heresy
The most powerful laptop isn't going to come anywhere near the most powerful "workstation"/desktop pc in terms of computational power, for practical reasons such as size limitations and cooling systems. Needless to mention the price difference between the two with equivalent specs
So, I came to the conclusion that, the ideal profile for a laptop, regarding price and overall capacity/computational power, is somewhere "in between"/mid range among all the available products in that category
It's like a recon vehicle, sort of. A main battle tank config regarding armor and guns mounted on it, is only going to turn kind of self defeating and over priced in the end
Yes. For a GNU/Linux box especially, having a massive graphics card and a mega-resolution screen isn't going to do much for most users. ZaReason (and the other vendors) don't really offer any good middle of the road laptops, they're either low end or super high end, when in reality something like a HP Probook would probably suit most users. Good CPU, good screen, nice keyboard. Who cares about a massive GPU, I'm not playing games on the thing.
