Well he's not wrong. Non-replaceable batteries is the worst case of planned obsolescence I can think of in today's markets.

No. You need to buy another phone then? Consume.
Only way to make sure your phone is never really turned off. Don't want the slaves disconnecting from the surveillance grid.
This isn't planned obsolescence. These are tracking devices, and they don't want you to be able to avoid surveillance by pulling a battery.
Imagine being so fucking stupid you can't figure out how to crack open a piece of plastic de-solder a battery spec and find a new one and re-solder it. Pathetic
Many devices use metal or glass backs which are prone to bending and breaking.
I have a metal unibody phone and it's a tank, not everything is an iPhone. Note that most devices with replaceable batteries had plastic frames which were also garbage, they just cracked in multiple places instead of bending permanently.
But I believe all batteries should have connectors and replacement shouldn't require soldering, nothing more than a screwdriver and maybe a hair dryer. I think the EU is thinking of some kind of repairability score.
Many people who advocate glass or metal also wear cases over their phones.
I personally never experienced cracked plastic.
Metal also interferes with wireless charging and signal strengh.
But I agree that soldered parts should be avoided wherever possible, especially parts with a limited life expectancy.
Then dont cry about buying devices with permanent batteries. Go buy an old fucking phone that you can replace the batteries in, or learn how to solder. Either way stop crying like a bitch.
I guess I am looking at an ad-hominem Apple shill.
Also, I know how to solder. But there still is a risk of permanent damage.
Regulation dictating the design of devices would be stupid, but something like "battery should be replaceable at a reasonable price" might work.
Or vendors could be mandated to disclose planned obsolescence on the packaging.
Example:
This product contains planned obsolescence. Its battery is not designed replaceable.
