In the UK every home is.

I think almost 100% are gas though because electricity per KWh is about 6x the price as gas.

In California there are many complete and utter morons advocating switching from natural gas to electricity for heating because "muh climate," but the current mix of electrical generation in California is such that doing so would increase CO2 emissions and increase the cost of home heating by up to 1,125% - from $1.29 per 10,000 BTU to $14.94 per 10,000 BTU.
