I decided to stop buying from them and I've been finding better stuff for lower prices elsewhere with no problem whatsoever.
It's a pretty retarded monopoly.
Fair enough. What sites would you suggest as substitutes?
It depends on what you want. It's not like there;s another site [that is not horrible] that offers the same one stop shopping that amazon did. But searching for specific things from companies [only American ones if I can help it] who are desperate for business and providing really good prices on often better stuff than you get from amazon, since most of their crap is chines bullshit like you'd get at walmart anymore anyway...
I found some company in NJ who specialises in plastic film extrusions, and sells plastic bags just the right size for our dumb oddball hipster bedbath and beyond kitchen trashcan for a shockingly small fraction of the price we'd pay in the store. That's nice. They're excellent also, not a single trash spill due to a failed bag from them yet.
Let's see. I bought ome new shoes from overstock. I'm pretty sure they're also bad for some reason, but they met my "NOT AMAZON" rule, and they had by far the lowest price for the exact pair of shoes I wanted. I might not go with them again, we;ll see.
I bought a new computer directly from the manufacturer [system76.com]
Other weird things for house and cars has required shopping around, but bar none, when I do go back to amazon just to compare prices [and use some of their bandwidth without buying anything] I find that prices from elsewhere are almost always considerably lower. I've had one fail and that was from some printer ink company. After not hearing back from them for a month I asked them where my ink was. No answer. So I asked again after another week or so, still no answer. So I told them in my last email that I'd report the sale as fraud to my bank the next day if I don't hear back. I didn't hear back, but my charge got refunded the very day I was going to report the fraud... so I guess it was a tiny little short term loan to them...
Whatever. It's worth the effort to me. You can do what you want, until I AM the boss of you! But I am not the boss of you presently, so carry on!
Okay, thanks for the feedback. Not sure why you would want to be the boss of me that's strange but okay....
I’ve been thinking seriously about system76. How is it panning out for you?
I recommend Zappos for shoes and Woot for everything else.
Zappos is owned by amazon.
For cheap products that are made in China you can probably find them cheaper on sites like Banggood and Aliexpress. Then there are specialized sites like Reverb for musical instruments.
