Anyone have a good way to block jewtube ads on their mobile app. Trying to ween my wife off as much as possible but I’d like to start with a good Pinole filter.

If you don't mind downloading and installing it manually, you could use a third party app as an easy fix. I use NewPipe: https://github.com/TeamNewPipe/NewPipe

Only problems you'll have with it are just a few bugs every now and then, mainly from YouTube constantly changing their algorithms that end up blocking NewPipe. The devs are pretty quick about fixing it though, haven't had any problems like that in months so far. And also the lack of a youtube account to sign into, so you'll have to resubscribe to all of your favorite channels again. It does have a subscribe function however that's tied to your phone instead of a youtube account.

Other than that, it also allows you to listen to the audio stream only (great for music) and download either the whole video or just the audio in multiple formats.

Alternatively, if you use a google chrome based mobile browser like brave for instance (maybe firefox based too but I haven't tested it yet), you can install the uBlock Origin plugin for adblocking on it. This is what I normally use on my desktop to block youtube ads, haven't seen one in years except when watching on someone else's PC. Only downside is you'll have to use youtube through the web browser.

Lastly of course you could still do the pihole thing, it'll just take some setting up and advanced configuration (depending on your skill level) to get it on your phone, even when away from home. I personally have a VPN always up on my phone that forces it to use the DNS server I have at home, which is pihole.
