Thankfully someone on this site reported on the purchase of Express VPN and my subscription was coming to an end so I didn't lose any money moving on from them. I did notice there was an app update the very next day which I would have blindly accepted had I not known so I just ignored it, probably something malicious in it. Switched to Mullvad instead and it's perfectly good. A flat monthly fee and no issues setting up. You can pay with crypto as well for a discount and total anonymity.
