Winamp? Now that's a name I haven't heard in a very long time.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Winamp is the most popular player for computers since the beginning of internet.

Was

[–] 1 pt

Technically true, it was popular and the best. Now its just not as popular

Does anyone still use this? I used to use it, back in the day when custom skins were a big deal, but I haven't seen it for a decade or more.

[–] 2 pts

I do, an old version too. It plays music files, that's it. no gay web 3.0 bullshit.

[–] 1 pt

Never stopped. Version 5.9 something with classic skin.

Yes. Its quick easy and intuitive. It doesn't add bullshit or make things more difficult, but it let's you add on, if you want to. I still use classic skin and sometimes use milkdrop

Really whips the llama’s ass

I still use Winamp with my main machine. I use it for the music visualizations, of which there are thousands upon thousands still available for download.

No, thank you.

The old one still works fine.

Sounds like a garbage reboot, but on the plus side that logo is looking real SS

Wow, I haven't used that in over 20 years. Found VLC and have had no reason to even look for anything else. What does everyone use these days?

Aimp. It's better. Xmplay is very fast/lightweight and will play practically every audio file out there, but it requires lot of addins to get it up to par in terms of looks and better features.

Foobar2000, but it's not a compact player. It's customizable but, no thanks.

I stick with aimp and occasionally use xmplay.

What makes Aimp better than VLC? If you know.

VLC is free, no addons needed, has played every single audio and video file that I've thrown at it.

Vlc is great software and I have been using for ages, but for video. It has no problem with audio, but it's limited in audio features. Like just the other day I realized there is no pan feature to pan from left and right stereo channels in VLC. AIMP is exclusively for audio playing. It's visually more appealing. It can convert between audio formats. It has the Winamp feel. Aimp also has a mobile version. Definitely the best audio mobile app out there

Also, I can't remember if vlc handles mp3 tags or allows you to modify them.

I use vlc for video and Winamp for audio

MediaMonkey is better.

The WinAmp Community Update Project is still active, you can get it here https://getwacup.com/

Winamp went from being the iconic mp3 player of the time when mp3s came on the scene that really kicks the Llama's ass to choking on the Llama ass with bloat.

Now they want to take it a step further and bloat it to oblivion. Forget that. Aimp has been the new Winamp. Of course it will never compare to Winamps built in visuals, but it definitely picks up where Winamp fell off.
