The prices of lithium and cobalt required to continue making electric cars are skyrocketing. China controls most reserves of those minerals. Most cobalt comes from the Congo and many of the companies that buy from there are Chinese.

Even so, the price for this battery is ridiculous compared to other EVs. It's just a Mercedes price tag.
