Imagine being so retarded you have an internet connected vacuum that is a whole-house mapping & spying device with a camera, that you actually pay money for.
Smart Home
Just code for "invasion of privacy", but normie sheep will eat that shit up and love it.
Convenience and not having to do things is a major factor. Why get up and vacuum if I can have a "robot" do it? Why get up and change the lights when I can do it from my device? Why get up and do anything when you can do from your device?
How much extra to automate stuff without getting spied on?

Lots of open source stuff available like Mycroft in place of Alexa/Siri. The devices to control get expensive when you start buying many of them (outlets/switches/tstats/etc).
There are many plugins available that can run locally, although some require a server elsewhere, so it depends on what you want to control. If you need to control it from outside your home, again, someone elses server. So this can be a completely local option, but it has limitiations.
Will Smiff going to fight the vacuum cleaners in iRowboat2
When the price goes down a bit, every fuckin normie will buy one.
Fuck, I just got a roomba. At least it doesn't have a camera. I'll never plug that shit into a spy speaker though.
It still memorizes your floorplan by bumping into stuff.
I've since researched this. The new i2 and i3 models don't use a camera. They run around bumping into shit along with a radar sensor and map your floor plan.
The higher end models do that, but also have a camera. Those are fucking scary.
