I think the end goal is to end car ownership overall for common people. First, it's "Lets go green - stop producing ICE vehicles," then it's "Oops, not enough lithium. Only enough to provide vehicles for the elite and the government."

Yup. They can't stand people having any freedom at all. Freedom and ease of travel for the plebs really pisses them off.

Well they actually like the ease of travel as long as it benefits them. For example mass illegal migration.
