Yes, aerospace engineering is certainly challenging, but chip companies aren't getting billions from govts (with diversity quotas) and corporations. Chip companies have to sink or swim on orders from a diverse base of customers. Getting designed into the next new thing is important too.

I'm willing to bet that pretty much every major chip manufacturer is required to make ESG quotas due to Blackrock and Vanguard shareholder percentages. I think we simply haven't experienced the fallout from it yet.
