Besides the obvious economical issues, there's still a lot of unanswered logistical problems to making everything an EV. There's no option now for entire classes of vehicles, like minivans or work trucks that need to haul things for longer than an hour a day.
Also, there has been zero thought into the electrical network capacity needed to make this happen. It takes at least 10 years to build a new power plant, yet California wants everyone to have EVs by 2030, while they can't even keep the lights on today.
