What a jackass.
DearKick also said that one student had been exonerated and that Mumm had apologized to them. Two other students had admitted to using ChatGPT earlier in the semester, which "no doubt greatly complicates the situation for those who did not," they added.
Texas A&M-Commerce told Insider in a statement: "University officials are investigating the incident and developing policies to address the use or misuse of AI technology in the classroom."
What this idiot professor and the entire education system may eventually realize is that there is no way to detect whether or not something was written by AI. AI can even do some math and engineering problems correctly. The only student submissions they can trust are ones written by hand in a controlled environment; like a classroom.
The wider implications are far more profound. We may already be at the point where you do not need to consult an expert in many fields to get what you need. With a detailed prompt ChatGPT can probably give better legal advice than your average lawyer. “agricultural sciences and natural resources” sounds like another field where basic consulting jobs will vanish soon. We already have confirmation that a University professor in this field cannot tell the difference between papers written by his own upper year students and papers written by AI.

That alone should be grounds for firing the teacher. Either the assignment is so trivial as to be pointless, or the instructor cant teach humans to be smarter than a retarded AI.
Both times I went to college cheating was absolutely RAMPANT. MOST college students will fail if they have to provably do their work on their own.
Yea, although i imagine It began surging to levels not seen previously when they starting getting rid of pre-entry exams ensuring only qualified individuals were candidates - Colledge/ University/ higher learning use to be only for those that actually excelled or were wholly determined enough to pass. Now it's about DEI placement.
