Honestly, we can't discount the security potential either. Apps like these, which are state sponsored have within their capability to perform a variety of additional tasks outside of their actual function. This can include rooting and installation via downloads. For example, Facebook was widely known as installing a rootkit on Android which on many devices survived factory reset.

Don't discount what we don't know.

We also shouldn’t forget how it’s being used in a problem reaction solution format to slip legislation into the bill trying to ban it. This is a huge fucking deal

>This government is about to pass two draconian and dystopian laws that would make even despots like Pol Pot or Joe Stalin blush with envy. The RESTRICT Act and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). Both are intended to work hand in hand to control the populace and eliminate any possibility of dissent, and both are receiving rare “bipartisan” support normally only afforded to matters relating to giving Israel foreign and military aid.
The former has been described as the PATRIOT Act on steroids. While it’s being sold to the American people as a ban on TikTok, it is actually intended to give the government carte blanche access to any and all digital communications and transactions – and heavily penalize you for attempting to maintain your privacy. Whether it’s your chat on Telegram, your DM on some gaming platform, an email you sent to your lawyer – all of that information will be collected, without warrant, and without a way to challenge the collection of that data – even if you know your data is being collected in this manner. The government already does this with known political dissidents generally, but it will be expanded beyond those of us who have attended right wing rallies and events to include those who speak in opposition to the degenerate agenda at local school boards, or who donate money to the “wrong” candidates or causes.

The Broad, Vague RESTRICT Act Is a Dangerous Substitute for Comprehensive Data Privacy Legislation
