Well, that would suck. I remember "CodeRED" or at least that is what I think it was called and it killing cisco branded DSL modems.

From the post:

>One day last October, subscribers to an ISP known as Windstream began flooding message boards with reports their routers had suddenly stopped working and remained unresponsive to reboots and all other attempts to revive them. “The routers now just sit there with a steady red light on the front,” one user wrote, referring to the ActionTec T3200 router models Windstream provided to both them and a next door neighbor. “They won't even respond to a RESET.”

Windstream

That company is trash. Years ago some network engineers got busted running their own ISP out of there. They also somehow managed to survive a bankruptcy after they fucked over so many vendors it isn't funny. How the C-level people have managed to stay out of jail should be a legal case study in law school.

lol it's the best company I can get

I call up each year to "renew" my new subscriber discount, what a crock!

Sorry to hear that. They are the only option out in the sticks. Frontier is another one, even though Verizon owns them. I would suggest Starlink if you can swing it.
