I don't feel there's a perhaps too it. Apple, Adobe and Google have each shown they can go in and remove apps from your devices without your consent. They've all (this extends to ebook publishers now besides the three mentioned) released updated ebooks that removed "problematic language".
When was the last time a book store snuck into your home and exchanged a book because the edition you have has "problematic language" in it?

It’s pretty scary how they can just come in and mess with our stuff like that. It feels like our privacy is being invaded.It’s clear they can access all our apps now, so we really need to secure all our devices.
