Well I did read the full thread and I setup the searx instance. I also have been looking at perhaps setting up an actual search engine.
However I've never heard of the three that you mentioned earlier. I'll look into them but as of the moment I've never heard of them. So I'd be curious why you believe they are the only 3 options.
Hi nice to meet you I'm the guy that originally started poal.co and thats why he pinged me.
Hey man, nice site you have here. Good times lately with Voat shitting the bed so much and having registration closed huh? And as you saw, I respect you guys having the SearX instance up too.
So I'd be curious why you believe they are the only 3 options.
I went through a bunch of lists of alternative search engines, and all of them had "some data from Bing/Google/Yahoo" aside from these 3. There may be more out there, certainly if non-english sites are factored in.
Well like I said I'll look into them, but my long term plan is to build my own.
Right on. I did a rough calculation that a 1 billion page search index would be about 60TB and cost $2700/mo to host on Amazon, not that Amz is a good idea. I'm gonna look into getting a YaCy node going for the reddit alternative I help with. I wish decentralized Reddit was here already.
