Bullshit. There is property and sales tax in AK at the borough and muni level and it will get worse. These guys have a lot of expensive equipment so they started their homestead with some decent amounts of cash. Snow machines, chainsaws, and, gasoline all cost a lot of $.

Sure you can avoid usury in AK but you could pay cash up front anywhere in the world.

I just dug a little further. I guess the specific area I was looking at boasted no tax;

Alaska is the only state where large areas of land are not subject to property taxes. The reason behind this is that it would not generate much revenue for the state. Only 14 out of 18 boroughs levy a property tax.
