I’m not retired. I work for myself which means I work every day, but my quality of life is far better now. I worked for a corp in the city, this is much better and I recommend making a change for anyone.
I live far from any northern place where I could buy land and build a cabin. It’s not a current option.
What about Southern? There are places in Colorado that are very cheap because there are no trees and little water, but with a well or cistern you could make it livable. Also, it’s either sunny or windy 95% of the time, so living off grid is very possible. These places are very inexpensive to buy land. Many people live in a trailer for 5 or 10 yrs while they build/save for building.
