Another belief I'm starting to have is that the amount of privacy one should have should be inversely proportional to their distance to the legislative branch. You are a senator? Then better be able to tell the public where every single red cent in your bank account came from, which should be publicly visible. Probably a lot of unintended consequences from both of my above suppositions though. I've not thought about them long.
