OMG GEOS
YEAH, DAMNIT! If only I can get the 1351 mouse to work! Or any mouse, for that matter. Have a couple of those usb mouse/usb gamepad adapters, gamepad part works but mouse part doesn't. 2 machines, same problem.
Come to think of it now, I donated the SID chip from one to the other... maybe that's why the problem followed... I think the mouse uses the A/D on the SID. Sounds perfectly fine though when put through diagnostic. The SID I replaced was missing noise on ch3.
wasn't ch3 the only channel that could synth noise?
The most advanced I got with the SID was to write a custom song player in assembler, then I discovered someone already wrote a good sidplayer. I got my hands on a 2nd SID chip, hoping to turn my jukebox into a stereo player, but was too young to figure out how to wire it up.
... and now we can play mp3 on a $5 dev kit
Pretty sure all 3 channels could do noise, since songs still had noise-based percussion sounds and sound effects, so long as they were played on channels 1 and 2.
That's cool as hell. Would like to get my hands on a 2nd SID. I bought a MIDI cart for it a year or so ago, but couldn't get my keyboard's MIDI to work. So that's been collecting dust, haven't even tried it yet. Should pick up a 61-key midi controller with real midi ports if I can find one.
