I only like 8 bit computers that boot directly into BASIC.
Sys 64738
They sell a reset switch on a cartridge now, you just plug it into the cassette port.
The best cartridge I had had an NMI button and an assembler built in. Great for inspecting games mid-run, and overall learning assembly.
CP/M Forever.
Most people here would be going CP what!
The fact that your mind immediately went there raises a few eyebrows...
Should have been CPM, the fact your mind immediately went there raises a few eyebrows /s
Yes. Back when the writing of words was upon a star.
I was raised on Apple machines. I used them exclusively for years. Even worked for Apple back in the early 2000s. Knew Steve and worked with him. But now?
Fuck Apple and everything they stand for.
Their new machines and software are garbage and I see no innovation coming from them.
I switched to PC a few years ago and am much happier for it. I won’t look back unless things change at Apple in a big way.
latest gen macbook pro is pretty good.
Technical response: Yes, Apple does use some pretty high-end hardware, and a lot of their machines are well-engineered.
Flippant response: Yeah, and I'm betting you think dicks in your mouth are pretty good too.
Real response: Meh, I really don't care for Apple's OS, or software policies, or political stance, or employment practices. Fuck them altogether.
imagine being such a nerd faggot ^ lmfao
How is Linux for gaming nowdays?
Supposed to be almost as good as Windows. VM hosts are capable of 3D emulation for the games that don't work properly in Linux natively. I did a test with a game that wouldn't run on any CPU with more than 4 cores and I had no problem with that one specific game.
I should try it out, I really hate using Windows becuse of Bill Gaytes n sheeit.
I hear some games are still having trouble due to their DRM.
DRM games are shit anyways as you'd only be allowed to use them so long as the servers continue to be supported.
It's actually pretty good. All the AAA games that I'm playing right now with the exception of Resident Evil work fine under Ubuntu. So I still dual boot to Win10 when I want to play RE. Otherwise it's Linux all the way. To be clear many people have gotten RE to run under Linux but nothing I've tried so far has worked for me.
If I played mutiplayer games it would be a different story however. Most multiplayer games only work with Windows. Likewise if I had a VR headset I'd still be tied to Windows.
I've been using Linux for servers for almost 20 years but the Linux desktop environments have always been problematic. I never actually expected to be able to switch for personal use but it appears that Linux has finally come into its own. With the caveats mentioned above I have no problem recommending it.
Well you're using shitty Ubuntu instead of Pop!_OS, Manjaro, or any of the other non-noob distros
Actually I'm using pop_os and I really like it. Previously Manjaro was my goto but I did not have the same luck getting games to run. Today you want an Ubuntu based distro if you're going to game.
It's fine. Install Lutris and you can play about 99% of your steam library. Games not on steam can be run through it as well. It may take some friggin around to get things to work, but most of the time it's seamless.
gaming? I haven't gamed for real since windows xp 6 years ago.
Because you moved to Linux or because of what that guy said last time you played CS?
Moved to windows10 then 6 month later tried linux dual boot then deleted windows completely and had 6 linux distro's installed on same computer.
reread then second reply, never played CS, my game was diablo2 mod medianXL, superb new game when you get unlimited stash and the cube it's insane the weapons and armor you can create.
I couldn't pick out a CS game video unless it said CS in a logo since I've never touched the game. I used to read Penny Arcade over 10 years ago and they abused their CS playing coworker friend constantly so I took that as a hint that losers are the only ones that play that game. Yeah it's a simplistic reason but it's the truth.

Fun Fact The person who forced Terry Davis to walk on the train tracks now owns poal.co. To be fair Terry Davis tried hitting him with his car.
I'd rather not mess with computers anymore. I'd rather do board games or go outside in the sun.
pretty much where my journey ended. did the linux thing for years but I honestly just got tired of fiddling with it. I could have been learning more useful things like music or a language. Done caring about terminal commands, vim shortcuts etc when my PC usage is dwindling down to a few hours a week browsing the web. Been using Windows 10 ever since because it works for the 30min of web browsing/youtube a day.

My Order of preference: 1 Amiga OS 2 Linux 3 MS-DOS 4 OS/2 ... 65 Windows
I used to kind of like Windows 3.1, but then Windows95 came along, and Mick Jagger made me stop using it. Sad the day was, when DOS was no longer the heart of Windows. That occurred later, of course. Ah, the good old days, when Microsoft Word fitted on six 3 1/2 inch floppies. "Chug-chug-chug-klunk; chug-chug-chug ..." The sounds of happiness. And my hard drive sang to me like a coffee can full of BBs vigorously shaken, not stirred. Don't get me started on the dot matrix printer! I thought it was going to give me hearing loss. It was like being on the front lines in WW1. Damn those German machine guns! One good thing about modern computers -- I don't need to heat my office in Winter. It's like having a little heater next to my feet. So toasty. You youngins won't believe me, but there was a time when graphics cards didn't have fans on them. Really, I'm not kidding. In fact my present graphics card doesn't have a fan on it. But I'm old school, as in the school of Pythagoras.
Queue a bunch of neckbeards spamming different linux distros they learned about while on reddit
