Who spoke somewhat convincingly about making the US better. Enough that folks -- well, the more intelligent ones anyway -- had to wait to see if he would deliver. For the less clued-in ones it was enough to just be able to say it convincingly.

I was born in the LBJ Era and can say the same thing. The most amusing fact about all the presidents of my lifetime is that Nixon was the most communist president yet few know it. Go study what Nixon actually put in place and did and you'll see and we've had Clinton and Obama.
