Nope, the guy got barely any credit for being an actual hero. Only alternative media interviewed him. This is obviously agenda-driven. His story is so wild, so dramatic, it's like something out of a movie; there should be a fucking movie made about him and the incident.
However, he represents everything that TPTB hate the most. He's an NRA instructor, and older White male, Christian and somewhat conservative. And he used an AR-15 to wound a rampaging shooter, which ultimately led to the end of the killing. The police didn't stop the shooter- Mr. Willeford and the gentleman in the truck (can't recall his name) did the hard work, engaging the shooter in a life-death shootout, and then fucking pursuing him at high speeds until the cops finally got on their tail. That's when they backed off, cops chased the guy for a little bit, he crashed in a ditch (probably in a lot of pain), and then there's a little standoff. Eventually, the shooter popped himself in the head, and the entire event was over.
This was the deadliest mass shooting in American history (or right next to Virginia Tech). And it was stopped by a straight, older, White male who is an NRA instructor, and he used an AR-15 to do the job. Pushing his story would push the message that "Straight White men with AR-15s and training with them are GOOD", and that can't happen. So Mr. Willeford only gets interviewed by Stephen Crowder and a few others.
I think I remember him saying something about being barefoot as he was running out the door. He thought "I need my shoes, my slippers at least", but then he heard another shot, and his mind went back to "Every shot I hear, is one of my neighbors or friends being killed" and decided "Fuck shoes, need to kill a freak real quick".
Wow. No wonder i have never heard of him then. What an injustice to those victims and his courage. Thanks for the info - i'm a gonna go and see what i can dredge up (if anything) from the inter-weebs tomorrow.
