Thin blue line bullshit ended during covid. They enforced unconstitutional mandates. Some of the insane arrests haven't been heard in court going on the third year. I live in a so-called red state.

And Columbine. People don't remember this and don't talk about it enough. The Columbine shooting was supposed to be the incident that led to a change in how active shooters were dealt with by the police.

Pre-Columbine, most PDs procedure for active shooters was geared towards CONTAINMENT OF THE THREAT(S) VIA ESTABLISHING A PERIMETER. So that's why it took 3.5 hours for SWAT to even lay eyes on the shooters' corpses. Most of the killings in Columbine happened in the library. There is a door that leads outside into the parking lot from the library, and it was propped open on the day of the shooting. There were 6 police cruisers parked about 15 feet away from this door, with officers hiding behind their vehicles.

Every time they heard a shot, they'd report it on the radio: "Shot fired. Multipe shots, rapid fire. Shots fired." Each time they spoke those words, ANOTHER KID IS MAIMED OR KILLED. And not one of those dozen men said "FUCK THIS, I'M GOING IN THERE AND SHOOTING ANYBODY I SEE WHO HAS A GUN!" They stood there and allowed those kids to be murdered as they cowered helplessly under tables and desks. They could probably hear the fucking cops outside, they probably desperately wondered "WHY AREN'T THEY HELPING US?!"

After that debacle, active shooter policy was supposed to be changed. Here's how active shooters are supposed to be dealt with now: ENGAGE THE SHOOTER IMMEDIATELY, WITH OR WITHOUT BACKUP. COMMUNICATE YOUR POSITION AND INTENT TO ENGAGE, AND THEN FUCKING ENGAGE. It doesn't matter if you're alone, how well armed you are, etc.- it's your fucking job to fight this guy. If a cop starts putting bullets downrange at the shooter, this will force the shooter to take his attention away from executing helpless victims, and engage in a shootout with the cop. The cop doesn't even have to hit the fucker, just get his attention. Every second the shooter spends trying to fight the cops is a second where he is not murdering a civilian.

Cops are literally supposed to Rambo their way into active shooter situations. It's the only thing that makes sense. I understand the concerns of "We don't know how many shooters there are, we don't know if they have hostages, we don't know if there are bombs or traps, etc."- yeah, that sucks, it's called "fog of war", and there's only one way to figure all of this shit out: SACK UP, DRAW YOUR WEAPON, AND GET THE FUCK IN THERE. You're supposed to be a professional warrior as a cop. Behave like one.

Finally, I'd like to mention Stephen Willeford, the Hero of Sutherland Springs. He was that old man, NRA instructor, who stopped that Air Force reject who killed like 30 people in a church. Willeford was sitting at home in his socks on that day, and he heard the shooting begin. He quickly realized what was happening, and in interviews he has said "I remember thinking, every time I heard a shot... that was one of my neighbors, my friends being killed. I couldn't just sit there." So he grabs his AR-15, tells his daughter to load magazines for him, and runs out the door with some partially filled mags and his rifle. Runs a few houses up to where the church is, and sees the shooter coming outside to possibly retrieve ammo from his truck. Our hero sees him, takes cover behind a truck in a driveway, and opens fire on the shooter.

The shooter had a rifle as well, but IIRC, he was struck in the vest almost immediately, causing him to drop his rifle (or it was jammed/empty, regardless- he dropped rifle and pulled a pistol). He then spent a minute or two exchanging gunfire with Willeford. Willeford realized the guy had armor on, and began to try to aim for unprotected areas of the torso. He struck him at least once in that area, and this made the shooter decide "Fuck this" and attempt to flee. He jumped into his vehicle and took off; meanwhile, a bystander in a pickup truck was watching this from the road. Willeford runs over to him, and says "Hey he just shot up that church, you want to help me go after him?" Guy in the truck was like "Sure, get in loser" and Willeford hops in. They begin chasing the fucker, on the phone with 911, feeding them info.

During the chase, Willeford took a moment to check his ammo. He had emptied a few magazines, only had the one left in his weapon. He had either 1 round in the magazine, or 1 round in the chamber- meaning he only had 1-2 rounds left at the most at the moment the shooter decided to flee. Willeford might have been killed if he hadn't been so accurate and decisive in taking action. AND HE DID ALL OF THIS BAREFOOT, AND WITH NO TIME TRAINING WITH "PROFESSIONALS" TO STOP ACTIVE SHOOTERS. All he had was a lifetime of marksmanship, his rifle, a good daughter, a strong moral compass, and an enormous pair of balls. Cops have tanks and shit.

This is what the result of zero tolerance policies are.

A bunch of scared pussies who have never solved a problem on their own through the use of force.

They don't want to lose their 'career'.

Just a regular stand up government worker.

Cops will always follow orders

Back the blue, the blue won't back you.

I respect the law, so long as the law is just. I respect those who uphold the law so long as they do so honestly and fairly.

However, I will never "back the blue" because most cops are cowards. They protect their own far more than they protect the community.

There's a bigger picture

One main problem with American politics is the Single Issue voter. They cannot take the issues at hand into a broader and more complex context. They also have a serious lack of understanding of the origins of America and why they are the way they are. The Founders called gov a "necessary evil" because gov in and of itself is violence and coercion. The only way to control that violence is to be armed against it, as well as limit - severely - what it can be allowed to function as. We all know or have a general idea as to why it has ceased being that and now is an overbearing, obesely grotesque, bureaucracy of malfeasance and corruption. It is also why The Founders included "by the consent of the governed" since the violence had to at least be acceptable.
