I'm glad you know about the Czech arms industry. Yeah my family comes from that area around Brno. Bohemia and Moravia were basically under the thumb of the the Habsburgs which ruled Austria from 1282 until 1918. After WW1 Czechs started building a defense line of special fortified and cleverly designed bunkers around our border with Germany. When Hitler walked into Czechoslovakia he used our weapons to arm 33 divisions of Wehrmacht. He new that if he had to fight against Czechs his war would be over before it started because although Czechs would eventually be overrun the losses to the Wehrmacht would be too high to continue onto Poland and then France. In fact there is a recount that Hitler personally was overseeing the destruction attempts of our bunkers. When none of his tank rounds or even direct aircraft bombing's would destroy the bunker he was quite angry. He underestimated the strength and robust design and the ways the bunker was protected against infiltration. Czechs never murdered any Germans and Hitler had no right to invade Czechoslovakia. Yes there were Germans living in Czech left over from the Austrian Hungarian Empire but so what? Czechs fought alongside Germans in WW1, in fact my great grandfather was one of those people. It would be the same as Mexico invading the Southern parts of the USA because their are many Mexicans living there. Also Hitler lied because he took over our whole country, not just Sudetenland.
.
I never look at a single factor or event in reading history. Yes, Adolf wanted Sudetenland, but the arms industry was another huge factor. Lots of layers. Hard to say if Germany or USSR was a bigger threat; in the end, the soviets were... I'm guessing you've seen Dark Blue World?
