My kid is getting annoying with asking for a cell phone. She's 12. All the other kids do, in fact, have a cell phone. If we went any particular route, it would be a flip phone or something at best, but I am familiar with modding, so that is an option (say, to get a solid phone and then mod to lock-down/remove bloat).

Curious what others out there have done.

Edit: TMobile, would rather not get any "new" or phones on a loan/prepurchase. IMHO, she's not getting one at least until she's 13...

My kids only got phones when they entered high school, but they only had text and calling. Sure, kids made fun of them, but all of those kids are doing fuck all with their lives and getting very fat and their parents tell me I'm "lucky" to have my kids end up being great people (as if it wasn't a lot of work and teaching them how to be able to do everything for themselves). Social media will rot your daughters brain like porn will rot a boys mind.
