My kid is getting annoying with asking for a cell phone. She's 12. All the other kids do, in fact, have a cell phone. If we went any particular route, it would be a flip phone or something at best, but I am familiar with modding, so that is an option (say, to get a solid phone and then mod to lock-down/remove bloat).

Curious what others out there have done.

Edit: TMobile, would rather not get any "new" or phones on a loan/prepurchase. IMHO, she's not getting one at least until she's 13...

My kids have Flip phones. So, no social media or internet. I'll keep it that way until they are 16 or older, once they get a job and can pay for their phone bill i'll allow them to get their own phones, however i'll have them locked down so go damn tight that they will want their flip phones back im sure of it...
