Say they wouldn’t be charged if they hadn’t been up to something criminal. Or say cops are pigs and you’ll never vote for a conviction. If you show you can’t be objective the lawyers can remove you for cause. If you say something slightly off-color they can remove you as a peremptory challenge, but each side only gets a finite number and would rather excuse you for cause. Y
