WalMart has excellent Exide MAXX battery prices. I've been buying them for 25 years, usually get 6-7 years out of them. Great CCA numbers too.
Batteries are all made by third party vendors. I believe Walmart uses interstate as their maker. The type of battery is more important than the sticker they slap on it
I did read that there is a lot of that going on. A few manufactures and it's all about the sticker put on it.
I'm going to give the Walmart one a purchase after further consideration.
FYI, Walmart is getting to where they make up excuses to not honor battery warranties. If you buy it, take pictures of the battery, any date code markings on it, the purchase receipt, and the warranty receipt. Make a photocopy of the receipts and save those because the originals of course fade. They kept making up new excuses as I kept coming up with what they wanted. I think they were hoping I would give up.
Good to know. I just got back from the store and bought it. The S/N is on the receipt. I'll take your advice and make a copy.
If you're in a city there is most likely a battery recycler in or near the hood. I get 4 year warranty batteries for 99 bucks.
That's all I buy nowadays. I have to replace at least two of my 20 batteries every year , and the mid grade Walmart ones last just as long as any of the other premium brands and types.
I was surprised how much cheaper they are. I just finished installing it. Hopefully I have similar luck.
I got their cheapest one, $80 or so about 1.5 years ago. My car still starts quick and snappy. I used my card that adds an extra year for a two year warranty.
Last one I got was an auto zone battery. It works well enough, and was much cheaper than the OEM battery - with a better warranty to boot.
I checked AutoZone Friday. For their Duralast brand they want about the same as the Interstate $200. Thinking about this more I'm going to take a chance on the Walmart one. As much as I hate to give them business. Even if it only lasts half the length, I'd still be getting the same money's worth out of it.

Really? I was going to pickup a side of salmon for dinner and I stopped there on the way. If only I could get those five minutes back.
I had one that lasted 8 years on a vehicle that during a couple of those years only got driven once or twice. It started every time, until it finally died, 8 years in. I did notice that the warranty on the new ones was shorter when I went to replace it, and they didn't have the one I needed anyway.
The largest auto battery manufacturer is Johnson control.
