Honestly, this is the best thing to do imo nowadays. I know it's frowned upon but you can stash away money in a separate account, doesn't have to be 100k but set aside some money your forever fiance/"wife" can't touch or doesn't know about and if something were to happen you have a bit of cash to get a leg up. Set the beneficiary to your children and you're set. You could save some money over a long period of time like a brokerage account or whatever and just let it build a nest egg all on its own. $100 here, $20 there. Whatever it takes.

One of the most humbling experiences as a women in the trade was sitting at lunch with the men from work listening to divorce rape stories.
