well, it sounds like you were doing pretty advanced stuff if you hurt yourself from it.
tangentially, i injured my back strength training and the nurse lady said to try yoga. yoga did jack shit for me and i still have the flexibility of a 2x4. my back hurt like hell and i could barely even do a proper downward dog. the only thing that eventually made my back feel better was doing ab and core exercises, ie training the agonist i think.
Yoga definitely made me stronger I'm not going to say it didn't but there was a lot of bad advice out there regarding it. I would do more strength training with yoga than actual the fluffy stuff that is floating around. I wasn't able to do any of the super technical things at all but I had some okay ground strength. I refuse to give up eating meat which is what a lot of them do. I just wanted to be strong I didn't need to belong to a cult. I don't miss it. I did some stretching today, doing the things I remembered from stretching before a run and some of the light yoga stuff and it felt pretty good. I just got to work on my hips and my lower back, they are really fucked.
I hear you man, I hope you find something that works
