Looking for a decent program to perform this task. Doesn't hurt if it's free but I'm willing to pay a reasonable price for exceptional software. Single installation is all that's required.

I feel finding good tools has become harder since the web is littered with six million dubious "Software Test" sites, which are just sponsored content and the plague of AI generated content.

I used to love Duplic8. I wish someone would update it for the new OS's so it would work.

A new one to me. Thank you.

It was the best I have ever worked with, it did duplicates based on content, not just file names, and you could select all files in this directory delete or save. Select and delete the older or newer one only, Ignore system files, etc . Easy few clicks to clean up even an entire JBOD rack.

I've been using Duplicate Cleaner for images specifically for years. Probably not ideal, but it worked for me. You can find cracked copies online pretty easily too.

So many programs I never heard of :) Thanks a lot. (Although I haven't used cracked software for a long long time)

is available in the standard Ubuntu repositories, so it’s probably legitimate. You can download it for Windows or Mac OS.

I haven’t used it, but reading through its docs it’s better than I expected. It can check for duplicate filenames, duplicate file contents, and even similar images.

Thanks! Bonus points for multi platform OSS. Might get around to trying it out tomorrow, today didn't quite pan out work wise.

CCleaner has a decent Duplicate File Finder in it. https://www.ccleaner.com/ !

Thank you! Was not aware of that. It's been probably close to ten years since I last used it.

I always used noclone. Good options, fast, and free.

I'll give that a try. Thank you!
